What are you buying yourself for Christmas

I treat Christmas as an excuse to indulge myself with one or more items I would like for the workshop which I can probably do without, but would like to have just the same.

The first one on the list this year is a digital version of vernier calipers. These are really useful as they accurately measure internal, external and depth measurements very quickly, with no fuss and they are difficult to make mistakes with, because of the direct reading on the digital display. This might sound a bit "over the top" for framing, but it's suprising how many times something like this can come in really useful and save time and mistakes when your in a bit of a hurry. They cost about £20.

Does any one else have similar ideas?
Cheers,
Mark

I've never been happy with my electric screwdrivers - always end up reverting to my cordless drill which puts a long screw in ash like this.

..... zzzzzzzt!

But it's cumbersome - anyway, went out and bought myself a tiny green bosch screwdriver £22 reduced from £30 at B&Q - seen it before - just looked too small - guy in the store saying it is such a good bit of kit - never had one charged for me to try - thought sod it when they reduced it LOVE IT!!! so quiet and bags of ooomph!

So that's my present to me and I want my wife to buy me a dartboard for the workshop!

CMC to follow!

John,

I've got a Bosch professional cordless drill which blasts screws into oak so fast if you blink you'll miss it. Get for batch jobs, with Lion's size 8 x 13mm screws. Much better that size 6 screws - screw driver bit never slips and the Bosch blaster can't break the heads off the size 8 screws. It's a serious cordless drill and also has a hammer setting for drilling concrete if you need to do so!
Cheers,
Mark
