Visiting your site by reference from fellow Grumble participant. I am looking for information on SACA conventions. I am an American stationed with my husband in the US Air Force in Aviano Italy. I am working at the base frame shop. I have been in picture framing for over ten years but my coworkers are lacking formal training. I hope to propose further education. I have heard mention of SACA coming to Bologna every February. ?? Any one have more information?? Much thanks, Victoria Ledford

Victoria,

If you are looking for training in Italy, I think SACA is not the best venue. It's traditionally been a trade show for wholesalers and distributors. In recent years many small players (aka. framers) have been visiting there to purchase framing materials because direct buying from the manufacturers is quite easy within EU. The kind of education that takes place in the US trade shows is non-existant in SACA. There are no 1-2 hour/half day/full day seminars in SACA.

In SACA you can, of course, find demontrations on the trade show floor, for example mat-cutting (by John Ranes BTW), frame restoration/carving and frame joining etc...

If looking for framing education in Italy I would contact companies like FARNE GROUP, ALBOR or RINALDIN. They might have seminars your staff could attend.
