Got to send a 26" x 36" frame (glass size) by courier.... I'm thinking Artscreen

what do you think??

I have in the past done that size. You need plenty of bubble wrap then two pieces of 3-4 mdf one front one back. Make sure that the glass is secure in the frame. Not so much of a problem if you are supplying it with the artwork already in and the frame finished but more of a problem if you are supplying as a readymade frame with flexi tabs the glass tends to move and smash.

What is Artscreen?

Artscreen is plastic glass... thats what they call it where I get it from.

Defo finished frame... a deep rebate with floating image.

I've just used Aardvark http://www.aardvarkartservices.com/ to send frames down to London from Cumbria. A very good service with insurance but more expensive than a regular courier, but they do specialise in fine art transport

Aardvark are very good. Likely to run you about £50-60 though. That not bad if you are transporting a £500+ painting but if it's a frame only it might be a bit steep. I would probably pack it up well and risk a regular carrier in that case.

Glass is tougher than you think. The main thing is not to have it too tight in the frame, but at the same time not able to flap about too much. If it's tight, any shock to the frame will go straight to the glass. Make sure there are no nicks in the glass edge.

I regularly post frames that sized with 2mm float glass. I firstly bubble wrap, then use protective "u" foam edging:

I keep those in place with handy wrap and then box (double walled box).

I tend to book with DHL or City link for £10 including VAT.

The foam edging is useful even if using acrylic to protect the frame.

I wrap edges in U foam and sandwich with double wall sheet cardboard anyway. Then wrap in Corrugated Cardboard on a roll.

£10 inc vat for delivery is expensive. I pay £7.02 through Parcel Monkey. City-Link too.
