Hi.
I’ve been an observer for years and finally decided to take the plunge, probably too late now as I’m no longer a framer!
I was a framer for over 21 years so hopefully I will be able to contribute to the bountiful wisdom shown here on the forum.
My business went belly-up earlier in the year due to increasing rent and relocating into a large gallery at the wrong time and in the wrong location; hindsight’s a wonderful thing isn’t it!
I am now in the Vintiques trade (more vintage than antiques) and enjoying every minute! But if anybody gets so busy they need an extra pair of hands I guess I could be enticed into helping out, don’t forget my 21 years experience, and I almost forgot, I am a GCF!
I do miss the satisfaction of framing and the appreciation of the customer who ‘didn’t think it would look as good as that’. But overall I do not miss the day to day hassle of running a business, dealing with dithering customers and working to deadlines in a sometimes very frustrating profession. By frustrating I mean the jobs where it just doesn’t go right. But then perhaps I’m just too much of a perfectionist!
As well as dealing in vintage things I am also in partnership with my son designing and building websites. My son does all of the technical bits while I contribute to the sales, design and copywriting side. So if you are considering a website...
I will leave it at that for now as I do not want to do too much self promotion...not yet anyway.
