Welfare Reform

Post by Framerpicture »

From my reckoning you would need to earn over £34k a year to take home £26k.
No wonder todays in the workshop is about giving up work and going on the dole!
Surely this cap is to high?

This debate is going on on the other forum I am on. There is no incentive to work and as one poster who is unemployed earning 20+K in benifits no help is given either.

Your right - it is ridiculously too high. they said on the news this morning that that it was £35k to get £26k net.

They also did one of these fliers "where your money is spent" Think it was in the Sun. These are like the breakdowns and pie charts the local councils do to explain where your Council Tax goes.

They said that for the average earner paying £6k a year in income tax that a THIRD went on benefit payments. It is horrendous. Benefit claimants don't bring framing in either

When the average wage is only 25k its not surprising a lot on benefits are caught in the poverty trap
