Fun with maps

Post by GeoSpectrum »

I’ve been tinkering with some mapping tools and thought i'd share this. I took my customer address database and the total spend for each customer and plotted it all on map. The maps gave some interesting insights to the areas where customers live vs how much they spend. It might come in handy for a more targeted direct mailing or advertising. It looks nice anyway.

The map below is an example. I used the addresses of framing business in the east midlands and added a dummy 'spend' value to the data. The colours and sizes of the points indicate size of the spend. If you only have few very localised customers it may be of limited use but if you are posting items all over the UK then perhaps this kind of info might be useful.
