INSPIRATION REQUIRED PLEASE
Hi All
Here is the brief: -
12" x 8" gloss photo in portrait. Head and shoulders of guy with the background being blue sky.
All I have in stock is a 35mm cubic contemporary moulding. My idea is to use a tripple mount black with black core closest to the picture and double mount of daler Ice white to for let's say a 80mm all around border.
If you guys can suggest anything better to make this as impactual as possible I would be most grateful. It has to be the 'Dogs undercarriage'
Other colours mounting styles whatever.

Re: INSPIRATION REQUIRED PLEASE
Put a drop on the bottom mount for a start say 100mm 80mm on the sides. Have only about 3mm of black core showing and then the top mount have a much wider offset about 15mm. And if you want to go the whole hog a couple of v groves.

Re: INSPIRATION REQUIRED PLEASE
I would put the black core as the middle layer and as Alastair say just a fine line 3mm max. If you can do the white in a thick and a standard that would be good too.
I would go thick white at bottom, 10mm reveal/black black core 3mm reveal/standard at top.
You would have to use Snow White as Iced White does not come in 2600 micron.
Drop bottom always looks good on portraits.

Re: INSPIRATION REQUIRED PLEASE
Thanks to you both
It is always nice to have options.
I have no thicker mountboard, I have never tried to cut it with my Keencut I always assumed you need a computerised mount cutter for that thickness of board?
Many Thanks

Re: INSPIRATION REQUIRED PLEASE
You can cut it with a Keencut but it is not easy and a lot of recalibrating.

Re: INSPIRATION REQUIRED PLEASE
You can use deep wrapped bevel instead of thick mountboard which looks good. There are examples on the forum of how to do it, you can peel off surface paper of your ice white and wrap that round 5mm foam board to keep the colours the same.

Colourmount do wrapping tapes in black, gold, ivory , white and antique white or there is a bigger range from Crescent.
Here is one I did with a gold wrapped beep bevel and a double mount on top for one of my wife's cat portraits.

Re: INSPIRATION REQUIRED PLEASE
Sorry Mr Jonny 2 Morsos
80, 80, 80 & 100 bottom. From the picture out - Ice White 15mm, 3mm Black core and the rest Ice White. It looked really well and more importantly my friend was delighted with it and everyone at the party was impressed. I picked up a rugby shirt to frame and who knows what else?
The one thing which really floats my boat in framing is just how grateful people are when you do a nice job.
