Hi, up till now I've just used Lions Clear Wrapping Film held together with tape for wrapping my mounted prints. This works fine, but does not look very professional.
I can't figure out what the best type of machine is for a low volume gallery type situation, and would appreciate some advice on what others use. Specific makes and models would be useful to help me price things.
Any other advice would be welcome.
Thanks

Re: Heat sealing for mounted prints
"heat sealing" may be the wrong phrase on this occasion - "shrink wrapping" may be more appropriate.
I would suggest a call to Wessex or Simons who both offer heat gun & film options.

You could use print bags or pockets (Lion catalogue No 48 pages 126-127) which may look better than wrapped poly film. Page 126 also has all the heat shrink wrap equipment.
I wrap my prints in clear polypropylene film and use 3M magic tape which looks neat. I always use a rigid backing behind the print (art-bak and the like) which helps in being able to wrap the film quite tightly around the print which gives that professional look. Mounted prints have a window-mount, under-mount and backing board and unmounted prints have a barrier board and backing board... I think the rigidity really helps... and cuttings the corners of the film before wrapping.

I think would also be stronger than shrinkwrapDavid McCormack wrote:You could use print bags or pockets (Lion catalogue No 48 pages 126-127) which may look better than wrapped poly film. Page 126 also has all the heat shrink wrap equipment.

Re: Heat sealing for mounted prints
Thanks for the feedback. I've tried bags in the past, and they are never seem to be the right size.
I will order some 3M tape and give that a try.

Shrink wrap can bend the mount package to much. I do hundreds and they are all wrapped individually. This is also the prefered method of Washington green and most of the print companies.
