Morso Underpinner
My Morso underpinner is running out of oil and needs topping up. I assume the topping up in done through the hexagonal socketed plug on top of the clamp piston and what oil do I use? I have some oil I use for my hydraulic would this be ok.

Re: Morso Underpinner
Any conventional clear hydraulic oil would be satisfactory, I would imagine.
What I would avoid is car brake fluid because it has additives to combat the effects of heat (boiling).
This is not an issue with the Morso
It is inadvisable to mix different colour brake fluid because to do so may damage the rubber seals/'O'rings.
So to use brake fluid may damage the 'O' rings in your pedal reservoir and piston, and the ram mechanism in the body of the underpinner, beneath the hammer.
I inherited SY Hydraulic ISO 32 supplied by Speciality Lubrication of Nottingham

Re: Morso Underpinner
Things I missed/forgot to say
I held my pedal unit vertically in the bench vice whilst I filled it.
You say you have some oil you use for your hydraulic ..... but you didn't say hydraulic what
If you intended to say something like car jack, I would imagine that would be ideal.
You may need to bleed any air out of the transfer flexible pipe via the allen headed screw next to the clamp plunger rod on the main body of the underpinner, if you don't get a decent delivery of wedges. Half undo it and press the pedal a couple of times and you'll see any air bubbles. Tighten the screw when there is no more air and top up the reservoir again.
All the best

Yes to the socketed plug, just above where the piston rod enters the reservoir....... hexagonal socketed plug on top of the clamp piston and what oil do I use? I have some oil I use for my hydraulic would this be ok.

Re: Morso Underpinner
You may want to investigate why your Morso is running out of oil, before you top up..... is running out of oil and needs topping up
Are there any visible leaks?
Under normal operation there shouldn't really be a need to top up up.
The 'O' ring seals in the foot pedal are very easy to replace, if you do have a leak.
'O' rings are cheap and usually readily available locally or, if not, on the net.
I can supply you with all of the sizes & guages to do a recon.
