iOne Pro - i1PhotoSG - For Sale

Post by CanvasChris »

There are some on here who want to get into printing. Colour management is the key to a successful business and to make this achievable you need to be able to control your whole colour workflow.

I have just upgraded my profiling hardware and software and looking to sell the setup that has proved it's weight in gold in maintaining colour accuracy for all my printing.

This set up is the i1Photo SG variant which comes with the large colour chart to enable calibration of cameras.... essential if you are photographing artwork. This alone is retailing for about £250.

With this equipment you will be able to calibrate your screen, camera, scanner, RGB printers and CMYK printers and if you have one a projector. It all retails for well over £1000.

It is commonly known that even though these units do 'officially' need calibrating I have never known anyone who has, and being in colour management and using these professionally in another career I should have listened to popular beliefs, but me being me, spent £165 on getting this one re calibrated and the certificate came back with the same results as the original. Lesson learnt!!! the expensive way.

It is 100% working with no problems and as such I am looking for £550 ... this includes insured postage. There are numerous online guides how to use this but I am more than happy to talk any buyer through any stage if needed.

Example:
I had a client send me some images last week to be printed on Hahnemulhe Fine Art Pearl. Some time ago I had a clear out of all the old profiles on my system and reprofiled all my media. This was one that I forgot to redo and just for quickness I looked on H's website and downloaded the canned profile... results were rubbish. B&W with a green tinge. So printed off a 1780 patch test chart and voila... Perfect.

Some photo's below and a description.... review links at end too.

The Xrite Eye-One Photo SG
.... is the ideal solution for digital photographers who need consistent, reliable colour for monitors and digital RGB printers. This colour management solution ensures consistent colour reproduction from display to proof to final output. The Eye-One Photo SG package lets you bring true-to-life light and colour into your work in new and exciting ways. The colour measuring device enables you to read colour from any source, while the ambient light head lets you capture a range of natural lighting conditions. Eye-One Photo SG UV also includes the Digital ColourChecker SG, which is required for profiling your digital camera with Eye-One Match 3.2 software.

Eye-One UV Pro Color Measuring Device
This award-winning compact, handheld spectrophotometer is easy to operate with one hand and accurately measures in both emissive and reflective modes - no need for two instruments. With a semi-automated scanning method for test charts users can measure over 400 patches in less than 5 minutes. Additionally, spot colour measurement is easily achieved with spot positioning target.

Ambient Light Head
Measure and capture ambient light when used with Eye-One Share to evaluate how lighting in other settings will impact your work. You can also measure the colour temperature of light booths

Eye-One Match 3.2 Software
The easier to use interface of the Eye-One Match 3.O software has been redesigned for even greater simplicity with a history section for easy identification of where you are in the process and easy to follow on-screen help guides - no extra manuals needed. The Software can calibrate and profile both CRT and LCD monitors and RGB printers to accommodate the traditional digital photographer's workflow. The "Easy Mode" provides predefined settings and automated processes for users who are new to colour management or who don't want to develop customised settings, while the "Advanced Mode" gives experienced users access to customised settings for the best possible results. Furthermore, a "native white point" option leaves the white point of the monitor as is.

Digital ColorChecker SG
The Digital ColourChecker Semi Gloss (SG) is specifically designed to meet the needs of digital photography. Check and compare the digital reproduction of a real scene or a test pattern, make a white balance with a digital camera, or use the chart with camera profiling software to create an ICC profile of your camera. It includes 140 patches chosen specifically for their location in the colour space to expand the colour gamut and allow you to create profiles that capture the full capabilities of your digital camera and scanner. Many of these squares represent natural objects of special interest, such as human skin, foliage and blue sky. Furthermore, Gray scale steps provide accurate control of camera balance and maintain a neutral aspect regardless of light source. The sturdy, standardised target size of 8.5 x 11 inches (21.6 x 27.9 cm) easily fits into a full frame shot.
