double frame

Hi all, I've been given a frame with a football strip in it and I've been asked to create another similar one for a new strip.
I've managed to match the frames and mount, but I'm wondering the best way to put it together.
They have a small shallow moulding on the outside, then the glass, then a deeper black moulding used as a spacer. Then the mount is within the black moulding with the strip fixed onto the mount.
I presume the glass is just sandwiched between the mouldings, so I'm wondering what the best method is to fix the 2 mouldings together.
I hope I explained that clearly enough but if not I can post pics of the completed version.

I guess it depends on whether the smaller frame extends past the rebate of the outer black one? If not then just use a point gun or similar and fire it in, but i think it must go past it or you wouldn't be asking. You could fire a framers point into the outside then staple it down or an easier/tidier way would be to use canvas offsets(lion)
Or this might all be useless?

The outer mount is more shallow than the inner mount by about 1 inch so I can't figure out how to pin it. Canvas offets look a possibility and I'm sure I have some in the box of tricks I inherited although there is nothing like that on the current one. I'm guessing I would glue it as well?
I'll post a pic this evening.

It sounds as though one of these would be the ideal solution

http://www.fletcherviscom.com/FPointDrivers/main.html

The two pointy bits are driven into the side of the inner frame, and then you can put a screw through the hole into the outer frame.

You can buy these from http://www.lionpic.co.uk/product/F-T-MU ... ,1260.aspx

Or, you can achieve the same thing, although much slower, by inserting a screw eye into the side of the inner moulding, and then putting a screw through that into the outer moulding.

Yes, I would glue the two frames together as well.

That seems like just the job, unfortunately I don't have enough time to get it for this job. I'll try glue and some canvas offsets see how I get on.

Cut the tape away on the original one, at one of the fixings ,and you'll see how the previous framer has done it. My money is framers points, stapled down 8)
You'll soon realise there is no magic involved, only people getting by using the tools/materials they have at their disposal :D

Agree - you can see a couple of bumps under the tape, well, one for sure, and the tape on the outer frame serves no purpose bar cosmetics - covers those points/staples; doesn't seal the inner frame to the outer, so the chances are the two frames are glued together as well, in fact I hope they are because I don't see enough 'bumps'!!

Aha, points stapled down. I thought there might be something simple that I couldn't think of.

All done!
Stapled points and some glue was just the job. I might have a look at the point driver for future jobs.
Thanks to easypops, although I see you said that it in the first reply, but I managed to miss it.
