Any of you Poms want to play cricket?

I hear there are about a dozen openings in the English team at the moment!
I thought you guys invented the game. How come your team can't play it?

Thank goodness for the Kiwis or this summer we would have been bored completely to death!

Sorry, but I just had to rub it in a bit!

I may be slightly miffed if they called our team 'British' instead of 'English'.

But 1. Being Welsh and

2. Preferring to watch grass grow than watching cricket....

I have this offering... What is the height of optimism?

An English batsman applying sunscreen!

Being Cornish, and with a Welsh Grandmother, I am also a Celt and can therefore distance myself from the england team (come to think of it, any england team) when it becomes necessary.

This is one of those occasions.

It's Vice-Versa on the Severn Bridge - pay to enter Wales and leave for free.

But I got that one sussed - I go round the M25, up the M40 - Worcester, Brecon and out. Don't catch ME out like that!

Robo,

I thought being frugal was a Scottish trait, not Welsh.

Hate to say it guys but the English team is actually selected by the England and Wales Cricketing board. I'm Welsh and damn proud of it but I've got to accept that we're generally rather poor at cricket.

The Scots do have their own team and compete against such teams as Holland and Kenya. Make of that what you will.

Ok you lot.

You can stand tall again, your boys got us in the limited overs match in Sydney yesterday.

Well done, hopefully this might lift their spirits a bit and get their fans a little optomistic again.

Mmmmmm, it looked a bit like our guys let you Poms win so that they won't need to be pilloried when they get home!

Aren't we a generous lot???

I blame you for the fact that the Aussies dissembled and lost the recent one day series. You shouldn't make comments about the way the English play the game - it only encourages them. I had given up on the Black Caps, and who wouldn't. They were terrible and deserved to come second.
Generally though we support NZ and if that fails, anyone else playing Australia.

Three cheers

cmaclean,

Cricket???? Was there some cricket being played here??? I didn't notice!

Seriously, the Poms played very well at the end of the series, which is the most important part and our guys were like a bunch of old women.
Congratulations, Poms!

The Kiwis also played pretty well some of the time and it is good to see the rivalry between the three countries is alive and well.

Cricket - who cares. Now the Rugby!!- 6 nations is starting to get quite exciting - shame that Ireland gave the game away to France in the closing seconds of the game - and now that Jonnys back we might see a half decent effort from England.

You are so right about that Kev! I can't even get my shoes on over the gloves now!
Our guys dropped off dramatically at the end of the series and your guys just boomed, which is great. Now, I assume they will be getting a big pat on the back at home!

(But we still do have the ashes, 5 - 0.)
