Strip B - it wraps over the cover and overlaps at the back. Do you use d/ sided tape at the overlap to keep it tidy, and then use more d/sided tape on the rear of the envelope to fix it to the mountboard.
Strip A - Do you cut the slots in the mountboard, get it all creased and in position prior to making the envelope from melinex B. Then as you thread A through the slots and press it down, D/sided on the back of B sticks to the mountboard.
Has anyone done it where B becomes two horizontal strips rather than the full cover. I'm not so sure I like the full cover bit because of the shinier finish, but if it's the only way to go I'll do it like that.

Your description is more or less correct, you can attach the melinex however you like - no adhesive will touch the book. I'd leave enough of the sheet that passes through the board to fold back on to itself and more DS tape and then put a self adhesive tape over all of that - very secure.
No, I wouldn't use two strips - I think they'd be more conspicuous than a full wrap and would apply pressure on a concentrated area instead of spreading it over the whoile area. Some books have shiney protective covers anyway, also the glass, unless you're using museum or AR, is shiney anyway.

Yes, even a small piece won't lie perfectly flat. As for FFL - that's the plan.

Here's a book I did today - just a thin one (record of military service) to be shown open. I used a version of a 'magazine mount', where a piece of mountboard is cut slightly smaller than the open book and placed behind it, melinex is wrapped around and stuck to it, horizonatally and vertically. Another option would have been to cut a big + to fit which would mean only one layer of Melinex.

That is then stuck to the mounting board, or, a better method would be to pass melinex straps through the board before wrapping and then pass them through the mounting board. I just stuck it.

There's two different angles there, one with and one without glass and you can't see any reflection on the wrapped book. I could quite easily have chosen an angle that would have shown that though.
