Perspex/acrylic plaque

Post by SPF »

Just had a request from one of my repeat customers for plastic plaques to hang underneath the frames. They are looking for a clear plaque roughly 50mm x 150mm x 10mm with coloured engraved lettering and polished edges to the plaque. Anyone have any recommendations from where to go for best results etc?

Thanks

Perspex can be cut using a tenon saw quite neatly. I know of craftsmen, who make their own perspex cases, successfully polishing the edges without specialist equipment, bit easier with a high speed polishing bench.
sequence can be seen here;

many coloured past will be suitable for infilling the lettering, possibly acryllic paints thickened with some whiting.

It also might be worth looking at this about flame polishing, a sawn surface smoothed with a fine file and then wet and dry would be similar to the routed surface that this demonstration shows;

Venture Graphics do a perspex plaque, I've not had one but the gilded plaques are very good:

Thanks for the info I did have a look at their site which is very good, I'll have to give them a shout next time I need a gilded plaque (for pricing) as I generally get mine from the US, here:

The plaques are already sorted thanks to Will's suggestion above and I must say that Phil at P&S is very helpful indeed.
