Have a slight problem with my CS88,

using it earlier and it jammed - transpired the hammer had come loose, unscrewed the screw - slide it back down - screwed it back up and SNAP... the head off of the screw/bolt snapped!

I'm a bit weary at the moment, would I be able to just get a new screw? or is it a bit more complex than that?

I did take some photos, will upload in a bit!!

Framers Equipment in Northampton usually have any parts needed for this Cassese model and will post out to you.

The insert is made of plastic as far as i remember, and they should only be hand tightened. As for the bit that is stuck, i'd try a sharp flat head screwdriver tapped in lightly and i'm fairly sure it'll wind out

From underpinner-spares.co.uk: "Should be replaced once a year as the spring loaded ball catch can lose tension causing the wedge hammer to work loose resulting in wedge misfires. DO NOT overtighten the ball catch when refitting as this will break the thread."

Yep! that's the one I had to replace. Make sure you order two so you have a spare.

Might even replace mine and order another as I note the recommendation to change annually.

I would recommend you change the hammer/driverblade at the same time.

....my CS88 packed up last night too. Sod's law when i'm doing a bit of volume pinning.

For some reason it's not firing the wedges in, it makes the depression in the moulding but that's your lot - there's not a wedge jammed as I've had the part out and have checked it. I then couldn't get it back in, so had to tap it into place now I can't remove the wedge housing from the main unit and now have a jammed wedge.

I'll have to do the remaining frames (about 13 off) by hand but it will have to be fixed moving forward!

Bagel... Sounds like the wedges are not moving up the cart... twang the wedge spring a couple of times... pull out then let go normally gets it all going again.

Perhaps replace the spring too if reoccurs.
