wet frame before gum tape?

I'd left the heater on full overnight and the gum tape has lifted from the pine frame - has anyone experience of damping the wood prior to applying the gum tape. I wondered if it helped bond the tape. I use one of those roller dispensers for the tape and haven't had this beofore but I know the picture is going in a very warm house.

Shouldn't do that. :P

was the pine surface unfinished or does that back have some sort of coating on it? There are some mouldings where gumtape will just not stick. Usually a bit of a tickle with some sandpaper to rough up the surface does the trick.
Or it could be you haven't got the tape quite wet enough.

It's a Liom beech veneer and I think you idea of roughing it up ever so slighlty might work. I'm sure enough about thetape being wet enough in the frst place - another tough I've had is to apply some diluted pva carefully before taping it up. Any more thoughts?
