Help solving an underpinner problem please!

Hi all, I bought a new Alfa foot operated underpinner this week. I've only just set it up and am tinkering around with it. At the moment its firing two wedges at once when I underpin, they are going in side by side, does anyone have any idea what could cause this? I've double checked that I have the wedges loaded the correct way. Any ideas? Cheers, Pete

Do you have same problem with every wedge size? Could be defective head so there is a gap which allows two wedges at the same time.

Had another tinker and I'm wondering if its to do with the wedges Im using. The softwood wedges that were supplied with the underpinner work fine. I bought some alfa wedges along with the machine but I got the universal ones and then realised that alfa do ones that are specifically for their machines. Its these that are firing two at a time so I will try and buy the right wedges. Thanks for the suggestion, I will look at that too, hoping its not a fault though as its a brand new machine!

Yes this is your problem, all the alpha machines use AL wedges not uni wedges I think there is only .5 of a mill in in but it makes a difference.

Great underpinners by the way, I have 2.

Thanks for confirming! I have a wessex supplier nearby to me but looking on their website they sell cassese branded wedges that supposedly fit minigraf machines. I don't suppose you know if these are any good? Otherwise I will order online and wait I guess

Yes they work fine, so long as they say AL on the box not uni, but I find the alpha power twist wedges give a tighter joint.

Cheers for that. I might get some of the cassese ones to tide me over and order some of the power twist over the net.

Hi
I think you have the advice you need now, but just to clarify in case you come across them, that the Minigraf and Alfagraf type wedges are both the same, and are for Minigraf machines. You will find that several other suppliers make the AL type wedges that should fit your machine.

Thanks for that. I got the power twist minigraf wedges in the end, they work great. The step up from my old euro underpinner is quite noticeable , makes such a difference!
