Great. Look forward to the progress report.

Where do you get the Paraloid B72 (apart from Robo who, I'm sure, must sell it in his craft shop)?

Re: Wanted Jumbo CMC Mountcutter

Yeah, surprised me to learn (when I first calibrated a CMC) is that a straight bevel can't be cut as a straight line. As the cut is started the head has to rotate slightly to counteract the flexing of the blade. Not something to be concerned about with a plotter.

Re: Mould removal on canvas

Could be very difficult as anything that could make the canvas damp might remove or loosen the surface coating. If the mould is only superficial then I'd suggest drying it out completely in a container with silica gel for a week or two and then vacuuming it lightly with a soft brush attachment. If t...

I did have one customer who provided a photograph of the room and requested a frame stained to blend with the oak beams.

Hello Bungay

I'm off on a week's holiday when I've finished packing.

We're staying in a cottage in a village called Brooke near Bungay.

Any not-to-be-missed framing shops near there?

Re: Valiani MatPro CMC-ix 120 for sale

The justification for a CMC is easy: 1. Saves Time - Your hourly costs are rising all the time. A CMC will save you time. 2. Quality of Work - You can offer consistent and better quality work. 3. Unique Selling Point - Stay ahead of your competitors by offering that mount that they cannot. 4. Saves...

Re: Help! Blonde Moment.

I have 2 tape guns. One with standard ATG and one with 'conservation ATG' (at least, that's what it says on the box).

I always study how the old reel was fitted before replacing it. That works fine till you buy some cheap ATG from eBay and discover it's wound inside out.

I was thinking of packing it in but I recently had some customers giving me feedback that i...

Re: How would you mount this?

Hi Rowam

Welcome to the forum. We now know who to ask if we need any advice about builders!

I think I'd go for encapsulation in Melinex or Mylar - search the forum for those terms for more information.

I certainly wouldn't let it near a hot press - unless you fancy getting married again.

Re: Welcome to the CMC users forum.

As far as I know, all CMC's have some way of cutting a Corel design. In theory but I'm not sure that getting a Corel design into a Wizard is simple. Wizards will import DXF files (the manual says). There are many posts on the Wizard forum asking about how to get DXF files into the Wizard and the st...

Re: Printing On Mountboard

I print on ordinary mountboard using an Epson 4800 (now replaced by the 4880). Some mountboards work well, some don't.

Here's a few examples done on Colourmount:

Re: Mounting

Is it a real photograph or an inkjet print? If it's a real photo then I'd probably use PVA but if it's an inkjet print (or giclée print) I'd be concerned that the PVA might soak into it. In that case I'd use self-adhesive board. I used to get good results with Daler Xtra-tack (the name is something ...

Re: Proper business

Well, my workshop is the double garage attached to our house. It wasn't cheap to set up - cost me over £20,000 for the equipment to say nothing of the cost of three weeks of residential courses to learn the basics followed by endless hours using this forum (and other sources) to learn a lot more. As...

Re: Work space setup

I made 2 benches 4 foot square and bolted them together and put them in the centre of the workshop. They provides a bench large enough for framing and I have access all round. The reason I chose that size was because it was easy to get B&Q to cut a sheet of MDF in half and a full sheet wouldn't ...
