This was my last delivery but to be fair it is the first one that has been damaged.
The whole box was separated so not sure how it happened.
The driver was extremely apologetic and took photos.

Re: Accounting software

I just use Google Sheets.
Once a month I update my spreadsheet and it takes me around 1 hour.

I'm sure you will get loads if the right places see this thread, otherwise just contact picture framers near you.

Re: Premises size

My workshop is 5m x 3m which is around 160 sq feet.

The only thing I struggle with is having to cut glass on the floor as there is no space on the wall and I don't want to do it on my workbench.

Storage is a bit tight but as long as people aren't slow to pick up it's manageable.

Re: Adhesive for gessoed board.

Why do they want to stick it to a larger piece of MDF?
I would probably try and talk them out of that and just framing as normal.

Re: Golf Club

Thanks. It is fixed by a sprinkle of fairy dust and some magic :giggle: There is actually a couple of small strips of melinex on the shaft, one just below the handle, and one on the metal just above the club face. I used a little bit of gorilla mounting tape behind the club face to stop it swinging ...

This was my first golf club.

Luckily it wasn't full size, it had been cut down for a toddler by his grandpa.

Re: Oil on Paper, glass, slip and fillet - in which order?

Normally I would use a slip as a decorative way of lifting the glass off the artwork.

That said I'm framing one today that already has a mount, so the slip is above the glass and is purely decorative.

Re: What's wrong with flexible tabs?

I thought the same for a while, but I've had a few pieces in to reframe that had bendy points, even when large pieces. On a few of these pieces the artwork / mount had popped out of the bendy tab and was now behind it. I think that's to do with them being shorter and flexible. So although using them...

Re: cold laminator advice

I have a HotPress JetMounter JM26 which is fine for widths up to 66cm. It is foot operated or has an automatic setting. It is a great machine and perfect for almost everything I need it for, mainly for drymounting photographs. If I had more space I would get a lightly wider model. I don't have exper...

Re: Will longer pneumatic hose reduce air pressure noticeably?

As long as there are no leaks, and the hose is one long length it will be fine.
I have a coiled hose that is around 5m long when stretched out and there is no noticeable decrease in pressure.

Re: Blade Sharpening.

It might be worth looking at Centrado for your supplies.
They will have a van out your way once a week. If your order is over a certain amount you get free delivery.
They can collect and drop off your blades after sharpening.

Re: Morso Adjustment

Is it a new thing?
Sharpened blades may well make a difference.
When were they last sharpened?
Some mouldings are just like that and there is nothing you can do.
Have you tried other mouldings?

Re: Moulding search

This is a perfect time to start hand finishing.
You can get wood dye and apply it with a cloth or sponge.
Let it dry and apply another coat.
Let it dry and apply wax.

Looks like an ash moulding that has been stained walnut or dark oak.

Centrado do one 0066AS that is 15mm x 31mm.

Re: Taking photographs of completed frames

I normally lie the image on the ground and take a photograph from above. I have lines on my phone to make it as square as possible although sometimes I edit it in GIMP to correct lens distortion. If there's too much reflection on the glass I switch out the lights or wait until it is a bit darker out...
