At the moment I can't find a supplier of the Artshield UV north of Glasgow! Only a few hundred miles out! Doesn't feel particularly tranquil in my head just now trying to solve this one! All our shellfish goes to London & Spain!! Too expensive for us mere mortals! Maybe when I've finished this f...

The customer wants the mountboard for the colour as it will provide a "non cut" mount, tho I could attach the mountboard onto the fome core. The tag gun I have is the microtag which I have used on mountboard already and it seems to work really well, but I may just use good old needle and t...

One of my main problems is getting the glazing as I am 80 miles from the nearest glaziers and although I have large car boot, I would rather they delivered - which is often an expensive issue in this part of the world! I think i may lean towards the acrylic rather than glass for weight and safety - ...

UV Glass - large work

I have another interesting one! I have a large painting on a fine cotton fabric which is very old and will be going onto a sheet of artcare jumbo board - 40x60. The client is enquiring about UV glass and the glaziers nearest to me have said UV laminated safety glass - 4.4mm is probably the best for ...

Yes, the heat is certainly on! I wonder what other queries I can put in to attract such attention! The pic in question is indeed a 25yr old black & white school photo which is as you say, coiled like a watch spring - fun, fun, fun! I think I will use Hedgehogs W hanging method - sounds stable! F...

Thanks for that John - I had no idea I would bring out such strong emotions in folk when submitting that query! Thankfully because of the mixture of replies I am not put off entering any more queries - I'm sure I will have some - I have already had a few jobs that the person who taught me had not co...

Thanks for all the comments - some more caustic than others, some really quite upsetting. I admit I got myself into a situation where the customer picked a frame I did not realise the consequences of, but only having been in "the trade" a short time - my experience is lacking a little - ev...

thanks for that. Nice to hear from someone who knows where Gairloch is - mind you - if you've seen the BBc programme, "When love comes to town" - 15 mins of "fame"!!? for the area. I'm on the lighthouse side of the village - so not far away! Fantastic place to live apart from the...

long narrow frame

Hi all, Hope someone can give me some advice - I'm framing a long narrow school photo - 1200x259mm. The frame is a narrow flimsy one and having made the frame I' m wondering if it needs some other support to stop it bowing in the middle? I've not made a frame like this before and would like some adv...

I assume its the same kind of bags that you can put greetings cards in that you are after - if so, Craft Creations do a range of different bags that may suit - I'm not sure how large a size they go up to tho'

tagging guns

Hi, I'm fairly new to framing and have been given a collecter's item t-shirt with signatures to frame. On browsing through the Lion Catalogue, I have come across the Micro stitch tagging gun and wondered what other framer's opinions are on these - the client wants the t-shirt laid with sleeves out a...
