Slight "lip" of top of minerva mouldings
Hi, Currently I'm getting a slight raised lip on the top of minerva mouldings (Wessex's POL-4003) which I've never had before. My circular saw has an 80 tooth blade and I'm cutting the mouldings very quickly so as to avoid plastic dust build up. Has anyone else had a similar problem - filing the edg...

Do you keep "stock" frames?
...quite often and around this time of year I get approached to do football shirt frames, but as I juggle framing with my full time job as a buyer, I invariably can't make the frames quick enough for my customers. I was toying with the idea of getting some of DJ Simons deep rebate frames and making ...

Re: Pencil drawing mountboard spec
....seems like I poked a hornet's nest with this post lol...! If anyone's interested my question came purely from a supplier point of view. I was going to offer the daft mare of a customer a wessex moulding but I don't have any conservation mountboards from Wessex to show her. So it would have meant...

Pencil drawing mountboard spec
Hi all,
Just a quick question - would it be ok to frame a pencil drawing with standard mountboard rather than conservation?
Thanks

Re: ...there must be an easier way - Ultimat Gold 48
Thanks all for the valid comments - you only get out what you put in they say, so the first port of call for me is to run through the manual in it's entirety to ensure that everything is setup properly. It came with a manual (I bought it off a fellow framer off Ebay) but rather alarmingly the manual...

Re: ...there must be an easier way - Ultimat Gold 48
I do the same and secure it with elastic bands, plus a token tea towel over that part to guard against dust! I may well take you up on that offer, assuming I haven't booked myself into Broadmoor :-) If I was the designer at Keencut I would have clamps on the limit stops so they can't move - even the...

Re: ...there must be an easier way - Ultimat Gold 48
yes RF, it's all very heartbreakingly odd! I go out of my way to store the parts that have the limit stops on them with as much care as I can, so as not to risk moving the limit stops. Such was the inaccuracy of it tonight that the parallel guide at the bottom of the machine was out by a mm - I'm ad...

Re: ...there must be an easier way - Ultimat Gold 48
....another night, another mount to cut and you've guessed it - I have to recalibrate my UG 48 again!!!!!!! I can't believe I'm going to have to do all this setting up everytime - it's daft! £715 I parted with for my Ultimat Gold last year - why should I have to recalibrate it every single time I us...

..I thought about stretchers but they wouldn't be narrow enough and I'd have to back out the moulding etc, etc, etc.

Acrylic Canvas - L012
Hi, I might have got myself in a bit of a corner saying I could frame an artwork in Lion's L012 - it's an acrylic painting which used to be on stretcher bars. It isn't now but unhelpfully has 2lip" marks all round the picture where it used to go on the bars. The only way(s) that spring to mind ...

...there must be an easier way - Ultimat Gold 48
Hi all, Such is my setup at home that I have to ferry my Ultimat Gold 48 down from upstairs (where it's stored vertically in my wardrobe). The "arms" are stored separately in the loft. I had a mount to cut yesterday and the limit stops must have moved (as there were significant overcuts) -...

Re: Wessex Samples
Thanks all, I do find it all a bit bemusing particularly as I have been supplied samples FOC in the past - ok, it's to show them but so what? If a customer sees a sample and orders it then it's an order for the respective supplier. I have an issue with being charged for the conservation mountboards ...

Wessex Samples
Ashley tells me today that all Wessex samples are now £1.00 each and the vlue of samples your order is then reimbursed when you spend over £500 with them. The samples I have applied for today are going to be sent FOC, with this new rule coming into effect the next time I ask for some samples. I've a...

Re: Mitre saw for frame cutting..... which one?
Hi, I'm not familiar with the nobex saw you mention, but ironically have a nobex handsaw that I now use as a job saw - I've now got a Dewalt saw now, a 707 I think it is. It's linked up to Frameco's Ezy Measure System and gives fabulous mitres. I bought an 80 tooth blade for it too and use that all ...

Verification Pricing Needed...!
Hi all, If anyone's feeling particularly generous or bored would they mind awfully pricing up some frames for me? If they're ever in my area I'll buy them a drink or get them some wine whatever's their tipple. Here's the situation I find myself in - I've been approached by a local business to do fra...

Keeping Bison PU Max
Hi all, Unless it's me I seem to have an inability to keep a tube of Bison PU Max before it goes off. Does anyone know how it should be stored? I managed to get some out of my current tube but I had a devil's own job doing it and literally had to ring the tube's neck to get it out - why they can't m...

Re: The promise of work to come .....
...if I had a pound for everytime I heard a customer say I have more work to be framed I would be a millionaire...! I get this everytime a customer leaves after picking up their order and it invariably never materialises which could be for one of many reasons: 1) it's just an exit conversation piece...
