Hello,

Looking for advice or recommendations for a diy/budget/entry level paint sprayer please.

Thanks

Stitching Shirts

Hello, On reading various threads on stitching shirts onto backing mount board it appears alot of you find it quick and easy. I however do not! I find getting the thread through a pre made hole in the back along and under the shirt to the next pre made hole to take it back of extremely fiddly and ti...

Re: Very deep frames

Thanks both. Mark please could you explain this is more detail One of the common ways of doing this is to cut and join wide flat moundings on the outside edge and stack however many mouldings as required into the now forward facing rebate of each adjoining moulding, with the resulting joins being hi...

Very deep frames

Hello all, I have been asked to make a frame 16cm deep painted white and capped with a white moulding. The deepest I can get from my supplier is 7cms, even 2 stacked mouldings of this is too shallow. The query I have is how do you guys do such frames: triple stacked? do the joins show? psi timber fr...

Conservation grade fillet/frame sealing tape

Hi,

I have 2 frames to do to at conservation grade and need to protect the art work from the frame AND the wooden fillet/spacer.

Any recommendations on which type of tape to use, ideally one stocked by Wessex please?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Underpinning Hard Woods

Thanks Vintage Frames - the is an even bigger gap on the underside so is the resistance from the wood pushing it apart so will try clamps.

Thanks David - will try re positioning the nails.

Underpinning Hard Woods

Hello all,

I have been making some oak frames (pw160 wessex) with an immes unperinner using 7mm hard nails.

The mitres are not tight enough - when you hold the corner up you can see daylight!

Does anybody have any tips or ideas please to get a tighter join?

Thanks

Re: Calibrating keencut gold mount cutter for thick mountboa

Thanks all for your help - apologies for delay to thanks you. So in the end I used adjusting the stop by 3mms method which worked ok. I then spend a very frustrating time getting it set back to normal thickness board despite noting blade depth, adjustment scale readings before I changed them. It cut...

Re: Lacing textiles tips wanted please

Thanks all.

From reading your comments I will try lacing with the reel as close as possible and let the thread untwist needle end. Fingers crossed.
And that is how my wife and I knew if we were having a girl or a boy!

Re: Tray Frame technique

Whats the best way to know what external length to cut? Is it : external length = (the width of the vertical lip plus the amount of gap you want between the inside of lip and the canvas/board artwork x 2) + length of artwork ????? eg for lip of 12mm, gap of 5mm, artwork length 200mm - external lengt...

Re: Underpinner advice wanted

Thank you Mike. I was cutting the 4 lengths from 2 moulding lengths to so hopefully this is why. I also noticed a fault in the underpinner arm support levels which has been put right. Last few frames have been much better. Always something to challenge you!
Thanks again
