Anyone go ?
I was there on the Monday - it was like a Sunday - really mega busy
Saw Sam Cook from Framers Corner walking the show.
Quite a few framing related exhibitors....
Wessex - James Cropper - Frames First - Frith and Co - Longridge - HHJ - 4x90.com and DIY Framing
Absent were Lion and Simons from previous years.
I have the thought that maybe this is a show where distributors from our framing industry could migrate to from Spring Fair. There is a lot of synergy between photography and framing. However if that was to happen then I would prefer if they were given a designated area.
I went last year and have just checked the post show media online. The footfall is much more amateur photographer than Focus was. The trade stands are increasingly etailer dominant with lots of niche startups. I wonder how many will return next year. I am not surprised there is little picture framing trade presence. We all have to move with the times, people go to the Photography Show looking for ideas and inspiration. Imaging is an instant hit on screen, rather than something displayed on a wall.
It certainly isn't what Focus used to be, as said above its mainly aimed at the amateur, with company's selling items at a slight discount over the 4 days, its more of a lets see what i can get cheap mentality, the old focus was defiantly much more geared towards the Pro market, that's why I attended Focus, as people like Phase One, Hasselblad were there with staff that new what they were talking about.
