Hello all. Hope everyone's keeping well in these worrying times.
As an artist, tattooist and musician, my income has evaporated overnight. However, it does mean I have more time to paint and continue learning how to make frames.
This one is handfinished with black shellac, wax polished and for the first time I attempted to gild the sight edge with silver leaf. My gilding was almost a disaster but I learned a lot and was able to distress away the worst parts!
I really like being able make the frame before I start the painting that will eventually go in it.
Regards
Matt

That's the way to go. You'll notice how that little element of silver lifts the whole frame and painting. And another thing to notice - if you isolate that first inner 10mm or 15mm of frame, it can pick out the painting as a stand alone frame and then have the further black surround as an element of decorative furniture. That describes the whole design as a well mannered picture frame. Well done.

That's a great frame and painting and frame compliments painting perfectly.

I love the way that members display their work and get advice on this forum. It really is so special to watch and see members being able to progress and show the rest of us their various skills and ability. Well done Matt.

Nice job. I think a similar finish is available From Lion in the moulding but a hand finished frame has so much more
