Air filter for minigraf 4

Post by woodman-46 »

I have a minigraf 4 underpinner that I use a lot. When I am doing batch jobs I am concerned that with the constant action small amounts of air from the compressor may be releasing here and there from the underpinner. I am only aware of this because of a very very faint oily/gassy smell each time the wedge is driven in. I would obviously prefer not to breath this in each time and so am looking for suggestions as to what is the best type of filter to ensure the gas coming from the compressor line is cleaned before it reaches the underpinner itself. Thanks

Hi Woodman

You can get a combined filter/regulator/lubricator which is fitted where the airline connects to the underpinner, this will remove moisture and solid particles from the air and also lubricate the internal workings of the underpinner. I don't think you can get away from the oily smell. I got mine from Simons at about £60

You can also get carbon and coalescing filters which remove oil vapours and very fine impurities when the air leaves the compressor but you still really need a lubricator to oil the underpinner, so the only way I can see you not breathing in oily gas is to wear a dust mask!

I supply these: http://underpinner-spares.co.uk/details ... emID=10066
The unit is for fitting into your airline system, the lubricator is needed for the Minigraf as without it your valves wear out quite quickly resulting in air leaks.
