Hi everyone, hope you're all weathering the storm - it sure is tough right now.
I'm asking for your help once again!
A new service I'd like to offer is montage printing. If any of you have time to look at this link, that's the sort of montage I mean. Does anyone have any knowledge of the relevant software to achieve this kind of montage/merge?

I have Photoshop CS4 (although I'm pretty much a novice, we do offer and are quite successful with photo restoration services) but I'm pretty sure you can't do this sort of thing in Photoshop without using tons of layers which seems well hard.
Any suggestions welcome
P

Re: Montage Printing
its done with lots of layers and layer masks in photoshop
its a little time consuming to do aswell, so dont under charge
there may be software to do it, but the big thing about doing blended edge montages is there is a creative descision for each edge, ie where the edge starts etc

I have Photoshop, but I find PaintshopPro a lot more user friendly for basic stuff. The only thing I don't like about it is the airbrush is pants.
You can use the selection tools to grab images and paste them as layers which you can move about independently. After you have a nice arrangement it's just a question of merging all the layers and blending the edges. This is very time consuming as you sometimes have to work at single pixel level. And photos grabbed from different sources will probably need individual colour correction to achieve a harmonious look to the whole project.
The trick with this type of work is to save plenty of versions as you work, so you can always revert back if you make a major bog-up. Save a copy and append a number, _1,_2, etc to keep a track. When you have got one bit right, save a copy and carry on with that.

Ricky - it looks like I might be able to get Livepix deluxe from the States for about 10 bucks. Is this the product?

Re: Montage Printing
if you have cs4 I wouldn't bother spending out any more money. scan in individual pics, rub out bits you dont want to keep using a soft brush.
then just use the move tool to drag the image over onto a montage document and place where required.
It will take you a few minutes for each image maximum.

Re: Montage Printing
If you have CS4 then it will do the job fine.
Get the hang of layers, It will not take you long to learn and once you do the list is endless to what you can achieve.

Some time back 'Vertus' gave away 10,000 free copies of their 'Play With Pictures' software, which is a compact version of 'Fluid Mask 3'. You could make those collages using this software.
I took advantage of the free version and found it to be excellent. It's only $39.95 which is pretty cheap. See videos of it being used here: http://www.vertustech.com/playwithpictu ... rials.html
I recently bought Fluid Mask 3 when they had it at a reduced price, but haven't had time to give it a good workout yet. http://www.vertustech.com/
