just looked up iss passes next 10 days - no sighting for us in uk !! but i bet some lucky chap/chapess will capture a photo of the shuttle and the iss together ! doesn't need that powerful a scope but good timing and location essential.

I've seen the ISS pass several times - you can always tell when the shuttle's attached! It outshines everything without the shuttle, with it, it is like a supernova! Pity it won't be passing this time, I'd like to say goodbye to the end of an era.

I remember the shuttle flying over the UK attached to its 747 back in the early 80's. I was at school in Manchester and remember it vividly, I believe it was flying to the Paris airshow.

It actually landed at stansted airport during that visit !! somewhere i have a picture - pre digital !!

Ah I didn't know it actually landed here, but just reading up about the Jumbo that carried it, it only had a maximum range of 1000 nautical miles so it stands to reason it would have to stop and refuel. The UK was one of its emergency landing sites I suppose it would be like the advert if that landed at Heathrow.

LOL!!! so do I . I was in Birmingham when it flew over and quite low. That certainly was a sight to remember.
