Try looking for an aluminium square, 4 feet long, try a builders merchant and look for a square that is used by builders for dry walling

Save,
Is this a ruler or T square? Ideally I want a T square.

I use the 52" T-square from Wesses, and it's not bad to use once you've got used to it, although you need to have the glass at an edge if you want to lie the square flat on the glass, as the T cross piece is quite thick. It does have a cut out on the cross piece to let you run a glass cutter all the way down.
