Tru Vue glass

Post by Thyrsis »

Hi,
Just trying out Tru Vue conservation glass. This might seem a silly question but does it matter which side out it goes? Just looking at it I can't see any difference!

Thanks.

Yes it does!

Tru Vue Conservation Clear has a coated side which should face the artwork and for cutting you should score the other side. If you look along the edge of a full sheet you should see very small print saying 'this side faces artwork'

Have a look at the info here under 'cutting'

If you have a piece without any writing there is a way to check.

With a new, sharp blade scrape a corner of the glass. If its the outside it wil just slide. If its the inside it will scrape off some of the coating.

Also, when cutting score the outside/non coated side.

You will notice that the coated sides scores differently as the wheel wont make good contact with the glass.
When your cleaning the glass you will also notice on the coated side the "cleaner" rolls more on the glass. Just a subtle thing, but with experience youll notice the difference.

The coated side also has a very slight ripple which can be seen if held at an acute angle to a light source.
