Free Chevrons offered
Thought that might get your attention!
I have a large number of Lion samples available, plus some DJ Simon ones. The Lion samples are chevrons I've made up from 200mm long sticks, so aren't particularly long but would maybe suit someone whose starting out in framing.
The DJ ones are 12" long sticks, so would need chevroning up - they are spare as they sent me two of everything and don't want them back.
They are all offered free to anyone who can pick them up from the Aldershot area - all you would need to do is staple some velcro to the back and they're good to go.
If I don't get any takers then they're going to the tip in the wood container in the next week or two.
Any questions feel free to ask or pm me.

Well there's a mixed wood container at our local tip, so as far as I'm concerned they can go in there - the plain wood mouldings can be burnt on the fire in the winter

Re: Free Chevrons offered
Waste, and in particular Trade Waste is something that Councils are hot on in terms of how it is disposed of.
Trade waste is defined as waste which results from a business and its operations. No waste from commercial (Trade) waste is allowed to be disposed or recycled at Local Authority Recycling / waste centres. Heavy fines etc can be served on those that violate this from the Local Council or Environment Agency.
It is advisable that Businesses 'reuse' the waste and this means that what we would term as waste can be used by another business / organisation in their activities rather than dispose of it as waste. (I donate my wood cuts/all card etc to a local charity who works with underprivileged children doing local art/craft/outdoor activities and only have my glass to dispose of).
Commercial waste should be disposed of via a licenced waste carrier and records kept for several years (not sure how many it is now, thinking 6 but note to self to check!). You as the business are not allowed to carry the 'waste' without a licence exemption certficate for carrying such.
Its something that smaller businesses can be ignorant to (without realising it) but don't wait until the Local Council / Environment Agency bring it to your attention. Get a Waste Policy for your business in place asap if there isn't one already.
I think the above is accurate but if anyone else has other information please chip in.

Re: Free Chevrons offered
I used to give my mount 'fall outs' to local charities and 3 local schools. 1000's of them a month!!!!!!
Until that is: A local Health & Safety Inspector got involved.
I can no longer do that as they have a bevel cut on the outside. Pupils or whoever were getting paper cuts.
However, if I change from bevel to 90 degree outside edges, that would be acceptable.

I hope you tie them together with plenty of red tape....

Re: Free Chevrons offered
Sean, I have not yet started framing, but if you get no takers from anyone who is starting their own business, I would appreciate the opportunity to get down to Aldershot. I've started making chevrons out of framing section that I've used so far, but ....They are all offered free to anyone who can pick them up from the Aldershot area

Re: Free Chevrons offered
Jack,
Wessex, among others, offer free samples which can be cut up to make chevrons. They are not as large as I like to use but they are free. I had aload when I started and slowly replaced with larger ones cut myself as I built up my stock and figured out what sells and what doesn't.

Re: Free Chevrons offered
Thanks Alan.
I assumed that stocks of chevrons on display in showrooms are the result of offcuts being used to make them.
Which is how I've got my present dozen or so
I never considered that suppliers would provide free samples
I shall do some research/make some enquiries
Much appreciated

Re: Free Chevrons offered
Jack, your friends and mine at Tawnycraft will supply you with chevrons FOC, they also cut, join them, label them and put a piece of velcro on so that you can put them straight on your display.
They have been sensible enough to realise if they do this they actually go on the wall and not left lying around for when time allows.

Re: Free Chevrons offered
Wessex and Lion charge for their samples - Lion never used to until recently, Wessex have been charging for a while now - understandable. The only other supplier I use now is DJ Simons and they don't charge.
If someone wants my chevvies they can otherwise they get burnt/dumped - end of...!

Re: Free Chevrons offered
Hello Sean,
Optimistically, are the chevrons still available? If so could we meet as I am in Farnborough?
