split in synthetic moulding

Arggh! One of the lenghts on one of the corners has burst at the outer positon of the v nail. The moulding is 38 x 38 excluding the rebate and I stacked 2 x 12's in each corner, The offending wedge was positioned 15 mm from the outer edge , the other 38mm. All of the postions sit dead on the mitre but this one is off to one side.
Am I too close to the outer edge, do the synthetics not like stacking the wedges

Yes, you are too close to the outside edge. Look in the Lion catalogue or Mainline Mouldings website for their recommendations for joining synthetic mouldings.

Regarding stacking: take some waste pieces and join them with stacked wedges then take them apart and inspect the results.

I did this last week and was surprised to find what I did!

Thanks, - I've sure got some waste pieces now! The long bits will make the short bits, bit it's another lenght tomorrow I'm afraid.

I redid this frame tonightwith wedges at 25 and 35 from the rear and across the 50+ mitre. it worked a treat, although I've notice the joints are slightly open at the back, front and sides good. Everythings taught and I'm leaving it at that.
