Hi I've just joined the forum and am spending ages reading your posts. I just wanted to introduce myself and thank everyone for what they have shared on the forum, It's a great place to spend my tea breaks
I'm an artist who frames my own pastels and prints (mostly animal pics http://www.portra.co.uk ). I just upgraded my equipment and am looking at getting more involved in the business of framing in the future, but at present I'm just enjoying the learning curve.
If anyone can point me at anyone who does training in West Wales I'd be very interested
Although not in your area I can recommend Mary Evans as I received some great training from her and she has a keen interest in conservation framing: http://www.applegarthframing.co.uk/index.html
Welcome Mary - wonderful work ... published by Sally Mitchell, say no more!
I don't know of any framers in your part of the world offering training ... not that I know of any framers in your part of the world at all, but I see from your site that you travel to Leicestershire quite often and there's surely something along the way.
I see you offer tuition on drawing - how about offering some skill-swapping with a good local framer - I'd certainly be up for that if I were closer!
Hi everyone, thank you for the lovely welcome, and for links and pointers, I'll check em out: much appreciated. A skill swap is a great idea, will certainly try that, thanks
Why not come along to the Framers Forum Live in Stratford where you can pick up lots of info?

Hi Mary, very impressed. I stewarded the horse parade at a county show for 45 years so I have seen all breeds from all angles, you are certainly in a good area for first hand material.
Hi To everyone Thank you for the nice comments on my artwork - when I tell people I do pet portraits their response is usually so I just leave folk to look and judge for themselves... I know it's not everyone's cuppa, but it's mine
@David McCormack - Mary Evans' courses look like just the job and an easy run from my old home town so I get in touch with her, thank you for that.
@Tudor Rose -I hope to be in the midlands next weekend (weather permitting: horses to photograph), the Live! event is timed perfectly so I have my ticket and maybe will see some of you there in the afternoon. I'll be the confused/overwhelmed-looking one
Hi Keith, thank you I'm still trying to get the hang of my address... I firmly believe there are certain sounds an English mouth is simply incapable of! But I love to hear Welsh spoken proper-like, it's like hearing magical spells
Hi Mary,
welcome to thour forum. Love your website, had a look at the video of you doing the portrait of the Golden Retriever Barney, it is fantastic, must admit to tears rolling down my cheeks though as I had to say goodbye to my own Golden Retriever in April. But you have captured the character of the dog well and truly.
Regards.
Arthur
Hi Arthur, thank you. Glad you liked the Barney video but I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I am ridiculously attached to my furkids and those that have gone leave huge gaps
