I decided that I needed to improve my on-line presence this year. So with a few hours of spare time between Christmas and the new year I joined Twitter and started a blog. I'd be interested to know if anyone else is doing this and what kind of response it has generated? This is what I have done:
I have linked the Blog to Facebook and Twitter so anything I post to the blog is automatically posted to my Twitter account and the Facebook Page. This is a feature I only discovered earlier today it will save a lot of manual updating of FB and Twitter. Some of my tweets also appear on the home page of my website. Linking things together like this will avoid the need to update the sites independently.
Apart from the costs of hosting the website and a little development cost all of the above is free to set up and use. Shame not to really
I only stated the blog and twitter a few days ago but I can already see that my website hit rate has increased and the numbers of visitors to my Face book page has also increased. I've have been contacted via Twitter for some framing jobs and made a handful of online sales.
I don't know if all this will make much of a difference to the amount of business I generate but as I do not have a shop front I think the time spent building an online shop front is a necessity. Only time will tell if it has much of an impact.
