A new one to me

Post by cargeo »

After 15 years of framing this is a first,
Last week I received an order of bare wood obeche and after opening the package the smell was something awful.
I made a couple of frames and they were ok after I sealed them, I hope, as the customer is away with them.
When I opened the workshop door this morning the smell from the remaining lengths met me at the door.
They are out in the fresh air at the moment.

Shrimpwood. :P

Comes from trees that have grown in swampy areas.

Yes you could say that it was a distinct fishy smell.

Smells like cat wee. I remember that Ramin had a similar smell from time to time (before it was stopped).

Funnily Enough I had a Joiner in yesterday and he said it smells like cat's wee or words to that effect.
