I make all my own ready-made frames in-house as well but they come with glass and backing, in fact so do Ikea's!
Nice work

Re: A selection of frames ready to go.
Although the photograph is a bit vague, I've been studying it hard to find something,- anything I can criticize.
Quite irritating!
The small frame with gadroon detail; is it a gesso effect or has it been gilded and then de-capo?
The big frame at the back, on the left. You've not distressed the gilding very much. Was that a customer preference or do you just like it like that?
Beautiful work.

Re: A selection of frames ready to go.
The Italian frame with period corner decoration was deliberately left bright as requested. The smaller cassetta frame has punched decoration on the flat with a simple hand carved sight and back edge. This is water gilt in white gold before being heavily distressed almost a de'cape finish but more gold was left on the frame.. The two larger frames have moon gold around the sight and top rail of the frame and are also distressed. The black frame has french sight carving..water gilt in gold leaf and again left quite bright. All are for canvas paintings so none require glass or backing board. Apologies for the low resolution image...I didn't realise my camera was on low file size when taking the photo. hope this helps?

Many would disagree, including me.Geoff wrote:All are for canvas paintings so none require glass or backing board.
A canvas open at the back is a dust/dirt trap, a des-res for insects and open to puncturing; the same applies to the front and that's a fact, not an opinion. Most customers when asked what they would rather clean, a piece of glass or their painting (or in time even have to pay someone to clean it) see the sense, but not all go for it, which is fine, their choice is an informed one.
If you are not actually fitting the canvasses yourself it's a bit different.
Re: A selection of frames ready to go.
Thank you for that... fortunately... I am not fitting the paintings to their frames. I have suggest a cover over the back of the canvas at times... but few people I deal with want this. With some art I frame... various types of glass are sometimes fitted but again this isn't by myself. I simply provide the frame to what they request. Even with some of the major auction houses...it's rare I get a request to provide any sort of backing. Of course they might well do this without my knowledge but they rarely request it.

Geoff
I like the little white gold frame. Can you post a better photo?
