Two in one
Two in one
Customer came in with these medals, hat tallies and bosun's pipe, we agreed on layout and mount/frame, then he pulled out a Royal Ensign but wasn't sure if he wanted to go to the expense of such a large frame as well.
So I, being a smartarse, suggested we forget the first job and mount everything on top of the flag, just not over the union jack ... as long as he didn't mind lots of holes being made in the flag. The idea was to have the hat tallies mounted directly to the flag but the slits required to do that would have been a right pain so we mounted them to a board first and then tagged that to the flag.

Re: Two in one
Very nice job John
Well impressed
Never been in the Navy but I do have a Royal Ensign
One of the officers off HMS Sheffield gave it to me back in 1966 when I put on a party for ships officers in Gothenburg and invited some local Swedish talent.
Your frame has given me an idea!

Re: Two in one
Nice idea, are the actual medals free to 'flap'? I like flags done like that, I hate seeing flags squashed against glass - that's just a person thing though

Sides are Lion L2127 (or Simons BOLO 5 - same) capped with L Juhl 'Fenice' 364502. Medals are fastened down with melinex straps.

John,
What a really nice job, I am in the Army and am always being asked to frame flags and medals. I do not have the experience to frame them as yet and always decline. Your 2 in 1 is fantastic, it has given me the enthusiasm to buy a cheap flag and have a practice, many thanks John
