dirty jockey wheel
dirty jockey wheel
Anybody else get deposits from dark colour boards picking up on the CMCs jockey wheel. When cutting a double mount i will often pick up colour from a dark inner board that ends up deposited on the outer edge of the top board.

My Valiani cmc has a little wheel next to the blade - its possibly just me who calls it a jockey wheel. Its function is to keep the board flat against the bed - and on darker colours (Artcare) it picks up a deposit of colour from the dark board and very neatly deposits it on the light board.
looking at Wizards web site it looks to me that the wizard has almost the same wheel config next to the blade.

The same thing happens on our manual Valiani, but only when the bottom mount is black.
We clean the wheel by running it over a piece of sticky board.

mines the 8000, no wheel. Mine has a sole plate that glides along the top of the board. But we do have a miserable time trying to v-groove black core boards. In fact we dont v-groove black core boards any more because of this.
If you are cutting intricate deigns (cut art and v-grooving, does this not get affected by the jockey wheel?? just wondering)

When cutting intricate stuff with the Wizard I used one of those blow guns attached to the air line to keep the cutting area free of swarf.
