Morso F overhaul/setup/calibration

Post by pixnut83 »

L&G,
I have at last acquired a Morso F :D
It came with a new pair of spare blades, rebate supports and right-hand arm. I'm led to believe that it's about 30 years old.
It looks in reasonably good condition but hasn't been used for about 10 years so could do with a strip down and rebuild.
Can anyone point me towards a book, manual or webpage that goes through this process, including setup and calibration, please?
Many thanks,
John.

You could try Neil Stout (forum member 'framing engineer' I think), He has a DVD on caring for your morso, not sure if it covers strip down and rebuilds but good place to start.

You can e-mail dan-list with the serial number of the machine and they will send you a user manual.http://www.morso-guillotines.dk/
You can also find the age of your machine on the website using the serial number.
All the best

Thanks!
I'm guessing the SN is the number stamped into the semi-circular top face?
13718 makes it 1973 according to the Morso history page.
Will e-mail Neil for further info...
Cheers,
John.

I received the manual from Morso - top quality and very useful.
However, I've decided against stripping the machine. I've cleaned and oiled all the slideways and all moving parts and adjusted the throw; it's now a whole lot smoother and should be fine for my needs for quite a while. :D
All it needs now is the safety guard for the knifeblock and a left arm which I'll make myself.
