ww 11 era frames

any ideas what i should be looking for in period correct WW 11 moulding?the kind of stuff that would go around a pic of king george in an officers mess from that time

I think that at that time there was a lot more to worry about than framing, it was a luxury and there was rationing going on. Things were very basic, narrow dark stained frames and off white/cream mounts, if any mount at all.

Watch the Catherine Cookson stuff on the 'yesterday' channel and see what's on the walls there, both in the posh places and the not so.

Would suggest very plain stained oak frames and as Robo says, narrow.....
