Threw beer over myself!

We (Mrs Robo & I) went out for a meal after work on Friday - the Arun View Hotel in Littlehampton, we like it there, especially if we can get a table in our favourite place, a small raised area that overhangs the river and looks out to sea. We did, we nearly always do as 'after work' is early, which is just as well because that also meant that not many people witnessed this.....

We were shown to a table for four; in the centre of the table was the usual paraphernalia, including a tea light. I'm not sure what use or effect a small naked flame in a pool of hot liquid wax has, but there you go.

I'm right-handed; I was sat left of centre and Mrs R was sat opposite me; we ordered drinks, coffee for Pat, a pint of bitter for me. I had my elbow rested on the table and after taking a sip of my pint I lowered my arm to put my glass down, whilst rabitting to Pat about whatever, and my little finger landed on the edge of the tea light, which tipped over and spilled the hot wax over my hand.

Natural reaction .... pull hand back - sharply. Problem ...... hand is holding an almost full glass of beer. Result ..... well, from where Pat was sitting it looked like I'd decided to throw my pint over myself for a laugh - and laugh she did..... as did a guy on a facing table who asked me if I could do it again if he paid for another beer, because his wife missed it.

No need though - a giggling waitress gave me a refill on the house. Must do this again, but next time when the glass is almost empty!

I am begging you to take a video camera and tripod on your next dining out occasion. Please set it up in a location that will enable all of us to enjoy any future stunts you invent in order to get a free beer!
