I'm a garage framer and most of my business comes from home visits. One trend I've noticed is more framed pictures being hung in kitchen/diners. Consequently I'm offering plain frames painted to match the colours that many customers are using for hand painted kitchens. I've changed my leaflets to advertise this service and have a sample in a local kitchen shop.
It's another way for bespoke framers to offer something that the discount internet framers can't supply, and where the price doesn't get met with a big intake of breath!

Frames for the kitchen, or bathroom have always been good business for us. Here in rural Devon, not all houses even a living room at all. This can lead to owners being creative to find space to hang pictures.
I don't know if frames for kitchen/diners is a growth area, but It's a good market for us.

Hello custard,
I have been thinking about doing this. It always seems the colour you want either isn't available or is in the wrong frame etc etc.
What sort of paint are you using? Any info would be great.
Many thanks.
Sandra.

Wouldn't be the first time people have come in with bits of furniture/paint swatches/wallpaper wanting frames to match.
Personally, I think it's a bit odd having frames matching the chairs, but WTH?
I've done mounts using the same wallpaper as the wall behind.

quite often tough "farrow and ball" paints are used for kitchen furniture. I know Frintons/Wessex do a range intended to mimic them, sometimes as liner frames as they tend to be more in smaller profiles.
They don't use the actual words because of trademarks. Popular for pubs too.

I have had great results with acylics by Daler Rowney, the paints are thicker than some and more dense a colour an all round quality finish can be acheived.
Good quality emulsione very useful and can be sealed with 3 coats acylic varnish, Match pots are Ideal for small frames.
Having whitewood profiles in the length and colouring say 2ft of each in a differant finishes then making 2 sets of corners or bits is ideal for marketing.
Also frame a small poster in one section but four differant finishes, one finish on each side then join it, match them with the latest in fashion colour.
Also Consider heatsealing and dry mounting Ideal for Bathrooms, Conservatories, Kitchen's and Childrens Bedrooms where safety and condinsation is a problem on decorotive artworks.
Having something drymounted and heatsealing makes easy framing on posters and fashion decortive, disposable artworks
Have a go at making wall mounted boxes, with shelf and a door with a heatsealed poster in the front many uses and so easy to do.
Kind Regards
