Local Show

I have been offered a free pitch at a local show and wondered if anyone has gone down this route and can offer any tips etc? I was going to offer some small ready mades (from off cuts etc) for sale and display some of my bespoke stuff for potential clients. I also was toying with demo'ing some hand ...

Your pro joiner is an underpinner -holds the moulding whilst inserting a pin ( v nail) from underneath. :D

Re: Dry mounting large rice paper painting

Gus, it is not so much that you will see the join through the rice paper, rather a line will be evidant accross it, a bit like wallpaering over uneven plaster Dave Thanks, I thought you meant the paper was so thin and transparent you would be able to see through it - was wondering how you were goin...

Re: Meet Learn Celebrate

I went on Sunday, did 2 of the sessions -jim's and David's, both excellent and well worth the money. Spent some time talking to Framiac and got a follow up call yesterday which was very helpful. Some interesting competition pieces. (Awards are listed on the FATG site) Oh yes, had a chat with robo to...

Just for my info - if the join of the board will show through the paper, how do you attach it invisibly?

Nickname from Army days....

I was training to be a mechanic and managed to strip the threads off some nuts and bolts through over tightening. - hence 'Gus the Gorilla''. Not got a suitable avatar yet, will have to give it some thought!

Re: One small step...

Hi and welcome to the forum. Lots of advice and information is available via the search tools on here, if you can't find what you are looking for - ask and someone is sure to have an answer. I started with a saw and guillotine.. Good results but slow. The morso is definitely the way to go IMHO. In t...

Re: Distressing Silver Guilt Paint

Gilt powder bound in varnish is much tougher. I have not mixed up any powders yet, but Mark (NYAF) showed us a recipie on his course. His was also applied on top of wax. Would you be willing to share your recipie for the gilt varnish and how it is applied - is it straight over the base coat? Thanks

Or you could use foam board (3 or 5mm), with an appropriate colour mount board glued to it, then cut to 12mm strips - or however thick you want it....

Re: Photo framing

I don't offer printing myself, but one photographer I frame for always gets his prints - up to 24" x 36" printed at costco's - dirt cheap and I can't tell any difference in quality of finish (but then my eyes aren't the best!). I always put these through the jetmounter and haven't had a pr...

If it won't flatten, can the wavy nature of the board be made into a feature - float mounted with an inner frame around / or sink mounted?

Re: INSPIRATION REQUIRED PLEASE

You can use deep wrapped bevel instead of thick mountboard which looks good. There are examples on the forum of how to do it, you can peel off surface paper of your ice white and wrap that round 5mm foam board to keep the colours the same.

Vietnamese lacquered wood paintings

Hi, just had an enquiry from a regular customer: they have just got back from Vietnam and have 2 lacquered paintings on wood that they want framed. (he wanted to hang them as they are, she wants them framed!) I have not seen them yet and was thinking of putting them in a floater frame, don't know if...

I am confused now! (doesn't take much). In order to appreciate what you are getting at I personally would like to know what you are complaining about and who has said what to you. Then I would be in a better position to understand your stance and respond, if I thought fit to do so. People have made ...

Wanted - Keencut Excalibur 48" or similar.

Hi,
I am looking for a vertical board / glass cutter - Keencut or Fletcher - must be 48" cut, NOT the bigger 63" model (severe height restriction).

Please pm if you have one for sale now or in the near future.
Regards
Gus.
