Re: Morso Cutting Woes
That has worked a treat. Many thanks. I guess it must be an issue with the amount of material left on the blades? It has only happened with the two sets of blades I have and not before I sent the first pair off to be sharpened.

Morso Cutting Woes
I recently sent my Morso blades blades off for sharpening and replaced them with a near worn set to cover for the time they were away. Immediately I found that the cut was not as expected. When joining the moulding with an underpinner it is apparent that the cut is 'too shallow' and leaves a noticea...

Framing a Poppy - Help!!
I am in desperate need of guidance/advice. I have framed a poppy as per the customers wishes in the attached photo. Unfortunately the moulding of choice (Lion L1983 Exhibit Pg 27) only has a rebate of 48mm. The box size is 80mm. Can anyone provide some wisdom?

Preparing T-Tommy
I frame a lot of aviation related subjects in my location and occasionally something special turns up. Preparing T-Tommy by Richard Taylor is a lovely piece in its own right but when provided with an official photo of the crew, a description of the mission and authentic brevets (3 out of 6) it was l...

Doug Hyde Moulding ID
I have been asked to frame a Doug Hyde print. I have a couple of prints myself, purchased preframed, and I would like to frame this print in keeping with the Doug Hyde tradition. I am looking for the white option. Can anyone ID the frame and supplier please?

Re: Backing Board - Kraftboard v MDF
Looks like I have stirred up a bit of a hornet nest with my original question! That is why I love this forum. There are so many thoughts on methods and materials that no one answer is correct. As my choice is not financially driven and taking into account the responses I will continue to use the kra...

Backing Board - Kraftboard v MDF
Can anyone give some thoughts on backing boards?
I currently use Kraftboard and find it incredibly easy to use but MDF of the same thickness works out a lot cheaper. Are there any benefits of continuing to use Kraftboard or would MDF provide the same benefits but at cheaper cost?

Re: Martial Art Belts
Many thanks Roboframer. What you propose sounds a lot more natural than the idea originally mooted by the customer. I will proffer your advice and see what his thoughts are.

Martial Art Belts
I have been asked to frame a number of martial art belts that progress from beginner at the top to the penultimate belt at the bottom and the individual wearing the coveted black belt in a photo that will sit in the centre. Due the size and weight of the belts I am concerned on how to mount the belt...

Re: Spring Fair
I'm just back from my first visit to the Spring Fair and from a hobbyist point of view found it invaluable. I received some great advice from one of he Gents on the Wessex stand reference choosing a second hand Morso. I drooled over the CMC machines (Would I really need one unless I went into mass p...

Re: Union Jack from Afghanistan
I totally agree that Roboframer. In an ideal world, where space and financial constraints would not be an issue, displaying the whole flag would be the optimal choice. Consideration would also then have to be given to layout and balance for the additional items that needed to be included but it woul...

Re: Union Jack from Afghanistan
If anyone does know I would be interested for future reference. There is a recognised way to fold the Stars and Stripes to display in a triangle but I could not find one for the Union Jack. After a lot of trial and error this was the chosen as the best way. Due to the size of the flag the options we...

Union Jack from Afghanistan
Due to my location and current employment my framing work is predominantly military, much of which is standard fayre. Occasionally I am fortunate enough to be trusted to frame pieces that are unique and very personal. This Union Jack was flown over Camp Bastion in Afghanistan and is a present for my...
