You may be thinking of Simons 000W/1029, which looks very similar in terms of the stained finish, but it does not match the quoted dimensions. If the dimension are only guessed at and the margin for error in the guessed dimensions was sufficient, then this moulding could even be the moulding in que...

The surface of the moulding is fine - a sprayed finish over a stain. Certainly looks like a finished moulding to me when seen in the flesh. The strange graining of the obeche base is just the way the light is catching it. The moulding is smooth to the touch; there was no chattering on the moulder he...

I've been asked to frame a couple of cricket tops for my local club. I have a couple of pictures of the existing frames - the moulding is about 1" wide and c.2" Deep (over all). Does anyone on here know which supplier the moulding might be from. Most of the framing I do is plain wood so I ...

I make "hard back" stretchers for a well known artist. It is effectively a box made from 12mm birch plywood sides and back (with sections cut out to make lighter. A 6.5mm piece of birch ply is glued and fixed on the front. The canvas is stretched over, primed and painted on. Because it has...

Smells like cat wee. I remember that Ramin had a similar smell from time to time (before it was stopped).

I had a Brevetti for many years and (not much help to the OP) never had to reset it. I did however regularly check that the blades were perpendicular to the bed - a small engineers square is best for this - also from Axminster. We occassionally had a problem with gaps on the backs of the moulding - ...

This week I've made a 6 drawer A1 plan chest in Birch Ply. Very easy when you have the right machinery.
Took about 6 hours.

Many thanks for your thoughts and ideas. I've now sorted 5 drawings to edition - the pictures I have taken on my new SLR are fine to print from too.
I shall reply to various PM's that have been sent about printing. I've attached a picture of the first couple of sample prints ready to go out!

Alistair Many thanks for your reply. My prices include a 4"/4.5" off white thick mount. I am looking at the printing costs at the moment as it is the area I have least experience of. The materials for the actual frames are less than £5.00 each (frame, glass & MDF) as I machine my own m...

After closing my business over 18 months ago I have been doing my own painting / drawing again - working in pencil / graphite, oil and varnish. The drawings are on A3 paper and the originals are mounted up to about 22x18". The subject matter is architecture and landscape. My main question is wh...

Good evening - not posted on here recently but here goes..... I need 10 mounts cut to 35"x35" (overall size) with a 5" border (4 sides). Obviously this requires jumbo board and as Lion don't like to send out these sizes I'm somewhat stuck. One way would be to get them cut to size and ...

[quote="Graysalchemy" It is very hard to find an artist with an ounce of commercial sense. You can tell them till you are blue in the face what size is economical to frame, then they go off on one because they don't want to lose their right to artistic expression. Same with subject matter,...

You can set up making your own stetcher bars with a good quality spindle mouler with a sliding bed. You will need a range of tooling - 2 rebate blocks and a groover. You could also do the job with a 3 head tenoner. I had to close my buiness last year - we used to make 50,000m per year. If you want s...
