Re: inkjet prints
Thanks for the tip about pre-drying, I might try that. As to Crystal, I have done several of those with no problem. On balance I think I'll cold mount all of them in future to bee on the safe side.

Re: How old is your Morso?
A bit of a coincidence with mine. It was made in 1977, same year I started trading. I didn't get it till 1982.

inkjet prints
Anybody come across an inkjet print where silicon release paper welds itself to the surface? I have dry-mounted hundreds of glossy inkjet prints over the years and thought nothing of doing this one, it was Epson according to the back of the paper. I tacked the corner to the board and went to remove ...

Re: HELP!!! Sticky problem
You could try running a stream of lighter fluid behind the back of the photo when you have peeled back a bit to start with. This often softens the adhesive and won't harm the photo if it IS an actual photo and not an inkjet-print.

Prefetch = 7
In an idle moment the other day I thought I'd consult the internet on how to get my computer to start up a bit faster. It's been getting slower and slower by the week. Anyway I found a hint about upping the value of prefetch in the registry . It seemed to be a lot better at 5 instead of the default ...

Re: Very slow links
I'm glad to say that today everything is functioning at the gallop. I usually log in at about 4.30 in the afternoon and normally havbe no problems, except for the previously mentioned last few days, so perhaps it's general traffic issues.

Re: One of my Hobbies
The Polo did actually spontaneously combust, but the other one was, I think deliberate arson arranged by the owner.

Very slow links
The last few days it is taking longer and longer to navigate the site. This is only on the Forum, all other sites are just as quick as usual. For example today it took 3 minutes to get into 'ForumIssues' and 1.75 minutes to get to this posting area. It seems to be an issue with the site, so I do hop...

Re: Insult to injury
You never make money by being the cheapest framer around. At that size even in my very cheapest moulding the customer would have been looking at £70+. You tend to keep good customers because your the best - not the cheapest. Its easy to make the mistake of thinking that we are framers - and not sal...

Re: Insult to injury
You're a more noble person than me, John! :) I find that a complaint often results in more profit if you keep your cool and deal with it intelligently, even if it is not actually warranted. He will appreciate the concilliation and desert my competitor. Thus I will get the trade that would otherwise...

Re: Insult to injury
Problem is that over a year he spends about £300 even though they are cheapo jobs. I still like regulars, even if they are a pain. He's never complained before. So I'm going to do a Boots special ( cheapest one free) so he can't complain again.

Insult to injury
I have been a bit fed up for the last few days as business is slow. Practically non-existant in fact. Today one of my regulars came in with three little cheapo jobs, for which I was duly grateful. He then tells me that the reason he hasn't been in lately was that I charged him £62 for a frame last t...

I don't think the parchment would have to be wetted so much as the glue. If it was required to remove it, the weakest point would be the surface of the backing card. Parchment, glue and surface could be carefully torn away, possibly with the aid of a scalpel, and the wetting would then be possible f...
