Carriers

We are sending more and more by carrier to our customers.
We have been using Parcels2Go but having spent another morning tracing a missing parcel I think its time to give up on them.

Any recommendations ?

Thanks

I'd recommend Besso (London) as a good broker. These guys are specialist and although might seem expensive, Insurance is one thing not to skimp on.
I had a fairly big claim several years ago and although I thought I was completely covered Norwich Union didn't see it that way!

Hi TTC I agree we live in a free market economy, long gone are the fixed prices retailers were obliged to maintain such as the net book agreement , but I would expect a so called "Specialist supplier to the framing industry" to offer his best price to the framing industry, not the general ...

Re: Quickmate on Ebay.

You are correct in advising that Quickmate is indeed at a discounted price on Ebay, which is clearly advised in the advertisement. People expect bargains on Ebay and we are offering this, to the 56 million or so worldwide users that frequent the site. : It might be clearly advised in your Ebay adve...

Interesting to see Tabmaster are selling this stretcher cheaper to the public on ebay than to the trade! I paid £299.00 + £10.00 carriage +vat =£363.07

On ebay £320 +£12 postage inc VAT

I think its very brave of you to take on a picture cleaning job when you seem a bit unsure of what your doing.... do they ever go wrong? I offer a cleaning service for oils and watercolours but have never been brave enough to do it myself!! I was under the impression that most oils were cleaned by r...

I'm looking for a supplier of poly-prop bags which are a standard size
i.e 8 x 10 to 20" x 16" to put ready cut mounts into.
Any ideas??

selling mounts only

I wonder if anyone out there could offer any thoughts on suitable prices for mounts sold singly (i.e. mount only), shrinkwrapped at various standard sizes? Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

I am interested how many other framers have trouble with their Morso blades. As stated in an earlier post there are several situations that are causing problems. For the last few years I have used Lion to hollow grind my blades, and a very good job they do too. However, I have discovered that the bl...

We have just submitted a brief to have a new website built (including e commerce) and I was wondering if anyone out there would mind sharing a rough idea of what their site cost to have built?

The "pushing away" of the moulding on the left sounds like a problem with the blades. Although Danlist (who make Morso) won't recognise this problem its one I've come across several times. The blades probably have, for want of a better word, a bulge in them. This is not visable to the nake...

uncollected work

Does anyone know how long a picture framer is legally obligated to hold on to uncollected work and are there any examples out there of suggested wording to have displayed in the shop and on the website regarding policy on uncollected work?

Is Frameus suggesting we have a cartel for frame pricing? At £36.00 or £30.63 net of vat we make a gross profit of at least 6.5 times the material cost.Due to the volume of materials we buy we do get a good discount on all our supplies and do pass this on to the customer. With wastage, labour ( incl...

Have just spoken to Tab Master, and , apparently, as I'm unhappy with the Canvas Stretcher they are going to give me a full refund. Which is nice! I still don't believe their advertising. They claim its possible to stretch a canvas from start to finish in under 4 minutes, but apparently I'm going to...

Hi I'm new to this forum and its very interesting reading. I've been framing for nearly 20 years and have found pricing and what customers percieve to be a fair price a hard nut to crack! I took the decision a few years ago to try and hit a price point that, makes me a resonable profit and dosen't h...
