LJ Earthtones 335-948-553
Morning all, Just discovered LJ 335-948-553 has been discontinued - after I took an order for it! It's the smaller turquoise Earthtones. It's only a small frame I need to make, exact cut size 320x274mm, so I'm happy to take offcuts, or even a cut/joined frame (no mount/glass/back required - just the...

Re: OneDrive changes storage limits
it could do with being in a mirror raid. Absolutely - there is little point investing in a NAS and putting all of your data on it unless you are going to build in redundancy using a mirrored or striped array. I had a hard disc fail on my NAS a couple of years ago. I only knew when the NAS emailed m...

Re: OneDrive changes storage limits
However I might just buy a NAS drive which i can have at home. Be aware with this that you might not be able to access a NAS drive remotely straight out of the box. Generally you'll require some IP jiggerypokery which may mean buying a static IP address from your ISP or some kind on DNS redirection...

Re: Alloy stretchers
You could use canvas offsets from Lion (https://www.lionpic.co.uk/search?q=offs ... Search+Now) but I guess you'd have to drill the metal stretchers and use self-tapping screws to fix into them.

Re: foc sample frames
I fell into this guys trap a few years ago, but for a giclée print rather than a frame. He sent me an image which I printed and sent back to him. He went absolutely ballistic and got quite aggressive when it arrived with the world 'SAMPLE' written across it.

Re: Surprise Surprise
I once found hundreds of French Francs and a post office savings book in the customers mothers name. When I told the customer, he called his mother and she declared - 'Oh yes, that was my safe hiding place'!

Normally with those, the signature is well in from the corner of the picture as they are designed to be stretched with the image wrapping around the sides.

Re: The driftwood look.
But what if you want one a different shape? I don't. I sell what is on the wall. If it's not on the wall, and I can't find it in any catalogues, I don't sell it. Like Wickes don't sell kitchen cabinets in orange, like Ford don't sell Fiesta's with 4 wheel drive, like Subway don't make a 10" ha...

Wire brush, drill, angle grinder, bleach, workmate, safety glasses, dremel, shellac, paint, sandpaper, wire wool, wax, marine wood cleaner, sand-blaster, stain, oil paint, blowtorch..... ...and all the time in the world! I prefer just to buy driftwood mouldings and have the frame made in 10 minutes....

Re: "Banksy" on a piece of wall
Here's the original Banksy I framed a few years ago. I used some brushed steel coat hooks from B&Q to hold it in place, screwed into the 6mm MDF backing.

Re: Conservation Glass?
AR glass would make it nicer to look at, but is not actually going to conserve the work any more than than standard. Most AR glass (Artglass, TrueColor) will filter 60-70% UV rather than the normal 40-50% UV of standard float, so in fact it would conserver more, but not as much as Conservation Clea...

Re: MorsoF not cutting 45deg or vertical with one set of bla
We've recently experienced badly sharpened blades - they were poor first time I used them after getting them back. No amount of reseating made them cut any better so I called the supplier and they resharpened them foc. It does happen.

If your merchant provider offers a third party security consultant service, they are worth looking at. Barclaycard use SecurityMetrics which cost £11.99 per year, but makes the process much easier.

Re: Going 'chop'
I can't see why you have to charge the customer more if their moulding was obtained on chop. If you make a frame from lengths, the quote you provide to your customer covers the cost of buying the moulding, paying to maintain a machine to cut it, wastage, labour, etc. The extra you pay for chop is co...
