Re: very long narrow map
Thanks for the replies, all very helpful. I realise how complicated a job it is, my inclination is bloody big drawing pins and tack it on the wall ;) I will do much more research. It would need to be done on site (if at all) and the logistics are just scary, especially up here! So many things could ...

very long narrow map
Hi, I have a customer who would like a 3m x .5m map framed. I have been racking my brains re solutions regarding length/acrylic/weight, would like to keep it as one piece rather than cutting it up- proving a challenge, also as living in the Highlands, sourcing suppliers may be an issue- any ideas we...

Re: frame with no rebate
The other day, I finally took the frame apart from the back, no space for glass at all, but thankfully there was a label with the artist details, so I emailed them to ask if there ever had been glass in the frame - there hadn't! So now back to the client to see if they would like a new frame that ca...

Re: How many framer/artists have we here?
I too am an artist - I took over a framing business a couple of years ago from a photographer who wanted to focus on his first love. For me it has given me the freedom to do more art, as living in a rural area - there is not enough trade to make the framing a full-time occupation and it can be very ...

Ideas please
Spent the afternoon spring cleaning and have come up with a couple of quandaries. I have a wooden printers tray filled with little momentos -(Junk!) that we have collected when on holidays over the years but it is a real dust magnet. For a long time before I took up framing I have considered putting...

I also work from home and have found liability for other peoples belongings with www.assure-uk.co.uk. My equipment is covered under my More Than home insurance - who didn't seem bothered that I work from home. I'm not covered for transit as it's something I rarely do unless dropping off a small piec...

Re-framing needlework
Just got a job in for re-framing (not mine!) A sampler on canvas - no mount, no backing board - back edges glued onto a piece of hardboard, not even really stretched, corners cut to ease flatness of piece so it could be crammed into the frame - any ideas how to get piece off as the glue is pretty st...
